- Click Generate and copy the 16-character password
Keep this password handy — you'll enter it in Connect My Email, not in Gmail. It only controls IMAP/SMTP access and can be revoked at any time independently of your main password.
Note: If your organization uses Google Workspace with restricted IMAP settings, ask your admin to enable IMAP access for your account.
Step 2: Create Your Connect My Email Account
- Go to connectmyemail.com and sign up
- From your dashboard, click Add Email Account
- Select Gmail from the provider list
- Enter your Gmail address and the app password you just generated
- Click Connect — Connect My Email will verify the connection using IMAP
Once verified, you'll see your account listed as active in the dashboard.
Step 3: Get Your MCP Server URL
After connecting your Gmail:
- Click on your connected account
- Copy the MCP Server URL shown in the dashboard
This URL is unique to your account. Treat it like a password — it's what authorizes your AI assistant to access your inbox.
Step 4: Add the MCP Server to Claude Desktop
If you're using Claude Desktop (the most common setup):
- Open Claude Desktop and go to Settings → Developer → MCP Servers
- Click Add MCP Server
- Paste your Connect My Email MCP Server URL

- Save and restart Claude Desktop

For ChatGPT (Custom GPT or Plugin Setup)
